FAQ

Q:  I have a question about computers, technology, etc.  How can I ask for help?

A:  Easy!  Just send an e-mail to david@funkytower.com with your question!

Q:  I found a cool application online and I want David/FunkyTower to share it.  How can I suggest the application?  I have some knowlege about computers, technology, web design, etc., to share.

A:  Just as easy as asking a question.  Send your e-mail to david@funkytower.com!  If the app is stable and is fun, interesting, and/or original, I’ll post an article on it!

Q:  I have some knowlege about computers, technology, web design, etc., to share.

A:  Not to sound redundant, but just send your knowlege to david@funkytower.com :)  If the content you submit is truely informative, interesting, and can have a place on this website, then I will post an article about it!

Q:  When I send you an e-mail, what kind of information should be given with my question/information?

A:  Just include a name you would like to be addressed by.  Please make sure if you want your real name, that it is your first and middle and/or last name, or a nickname/username of some sort.  The reason for this is for credit to be given fully where credit is due, and not to someone else.  Also, make the subject line relevant to what you are e-mailing me (example: “Cool App” or “Web Design Inquirey” or “I have a question about burning DVDs” etc.)  DO NOT LEAVE THE SUBJECT LINE BLANK!  This is often a sign of spam, and I will not even attempt to read your e-mail if the subject line is blank. DO NOT USE THIS EMAIL FOR SPAM!

Q:  You say your website is Valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional, but when I view a post and click on the icon to see your validation, it shows that it is not.  Why?

A:  Great question.  I have noticed this as well and have taken it into account.  The “error” in question that keeps the posts from being valid is this:

Line 124, Column 94: there is no attribute “aria-required”.

…size="22" tabindex="1" aria-required=.'.true' />

In all pages and posts with the option to leave comments, there is a tag in the code called “ARIA.”  This tag is used, with this website, to make sure that you fill out the comment form’s required fields (name, e-mail, and comment.)  This is some what of a new thing and the validator does not recognize it.  If the issue of the ARIA tag is the only known error according to the validator, the website is still valid - notice all other pages on this website ARE considered valid.  You can read more about this issue at the W3 Website (the validators):
http://www.w3.org/TR/wai-aria-primer/#ariahtml

Q:  Can I or anyone else post articles on this website?

A:  No, at least not yet.  It would be aloud, but unfortunately, we have to fight against spam - we once had a message board/forum, but over 70% of the users were spammers.  If you want to suggest an idea for an article, send me an e-mail at david@funkytower.com :)

Q:  My Comments aren’t showing up!  Why?

A:  All comments must be approved before they are posted publically.   So wait a little while.  Also, please never post the same comment twice.  Chances are, if it’s not approved, it was not appropriate (ie, had nothing to do with the article, was not in discussion of the article, was spam, was discourteous, etc.)  If your article was appropriate, but still didn’t show up, let me know by e-mailing me at david@funkytower.com and I’ll do what I can to help you out.  So far we have not had any issues :)

Q:  I left a comment on an article, but nobody e-mailed me back!  How come?

A:  Simple:  If you want an e-mail response, send me an e-mail.  If you leave a comment, I respond by leaving a comment as well :)
